- Always inspect your sling before every use, for signs of wear and tear. Do not continue using slings that are worn out, have developed holes, or have broken stitches.
- Never release your hold from your baby until you are certain your baby is securely positioned in the sling.
- Do not remove your hands from an uncooperative baby.
- If you’re new to babywearing, practice first with a doll. Familiarize yourself with getting the baby in and out.
- Be mindful of your baby’s airway. For newborns and small babies positioned in the cradle hold, make sure their chin does not rest on their chest. The neck should be straight. You may put a small folded blanket under your baby’s back before putting him in the sling, to give his body a slight lift. Never cover your baby’s face.
- Do not use your sling as a substitute for a car seat. Do not wear your baby while in a moving vehicle.
- Do not cook or handle hot liquids or dangerous items while wearing your baby.
- Mind your baby at all times. Keep in mind that his curious hands are at your level and could reach for dangerous objects.
- Be mindful of your baby’s body parts, especially when navigating narrow spaces.
- If the tail of your ring sling is too long, consider wrapping it around the rings. A long tail can get caught in doors and can catch fires.
- Always bend with your knees, not from the waist. Always hold your baby while you are bending.
- While wearing your baby, do not engage in strenuous sports or activities that may cause him to fall out.
Use your common sense! Always use due caution when wearing your baby, as you do so at your own risk. The Eco Baby Boutique cannot be held accountable for any loss or injuries resulting from improper use.
